Awangbow Newmai launches special scheme for needy people of Tamei AC

Water Resource Minister and MLA of Tamei Assembly Constituency, Awangbow Newmai is going to give monthly pension to around 400 needy persons of his constituency including widow, widower, orphans and differently abled.
Awangbow Newmai stated that the above initiative is taken for the well being of the people of Tamei AC during the launching of the welfare scheme held today at Sangaithel Tourist Resort today.
He also handed over the forms of the welfare scheme to the coordinator of ten District Councils.
He went on to inform that for the first phase, 400 beneficiaries have been selected (130 widows, 40 widowers, 130 orphans and 60 differently abled persons) and they will be given a monthly pension of Rs 500 each until the completion of his term.

The pension will be contributed from his monthly salary which he receives as a MLA and in addition his workers will also contribute towards the cause, he added.
Further elaborating on the underdeveloped conditions of Tamei AC, Awangbow Newmai said that there are many reasons which contribute to the deplorable conditions mainly the location, lack of updated facilities and low economic status.
Lack of health awareness among the villagers also leads to high mortality rate which is really unfortunate, he added.
He also pledged to work earnestly for the well being of the people of his constituency.
The Minister further informed that a committee has been formed to select the beneficiaries of the pension scheme where the chairman of each village will identify the genuine beneficiaries.
Stating that plans are underway to increase the number of beneficiaries, he said that it has been aimed to complete all the process by June and implement the scheme from July onwards and pension amount will be provided in their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) .
Caretaker Chairman of Tamenglong Autonomous District Council, Namshinrei Panmei who was present in the launching programme lauded Awangbou Newmai for taking up such welfare schemes and appealed to all coordinators to honestly identify the beneficiaries for the effective implementation of the scheme.
