Imphal, March 17 2012:
Oinam assembly constituency MLA Dr I Ibohalbi Singh has been elected as the legislature wing leader of Manipur State All India Trinamool Congress.
A special meeting of Trinamool legislators held today unanimously resolved to elect Dr Ibohalbi as the party's legislature wing leader.
An informed source said that a formal announcement to this effect is likely to be announced tomorrow.
The Trinamool Congress has seven MLAs in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Naga People's Front (NPF) president Shurhozelie Liezietsu announced that the party has chosen MLA L Dikho as leader of the NPF legislature party and Samuel Risom as the deputy leader in the new Manipur assembly.
NPF won four seats in the just concluded polls.
Shurhozelie said he has asked the four party MLAs to play an active role as opposition members in the assembly and side by side organize the party from the grassroots level.
"This is a very good beginning.
We will prepare to face the next parliamentary election due to be held in 2014," he said.
The NPF fielded 12 candidates and fought the election against all odds.
It won four seats and opened its account even as many established parties had failed, he added.
