Red Shield Division organises 'Military Equipment Display'

The Red Shield Division organised a riveting military equipment display yesterday at Major Jotin Memorial Sports Complex, Bishnupur.
The military weapon display was organised as a part of celebratory events organised to mark Army Day celebrated every year to commemorate the appointment of General (later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa as Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army in 1949, said a statement issued by Red Shield Division.
The programme saw massive participation from the local populace who were educated about the Indian Army's culture, its ethos and way of life and the avenues available to those seeking entry into Indian Army as a career choice, added the statement.
The enthusiasm amongst the children and youth was also quite palpable when they were provided with detailed information on valour of several Param Vir Chakra Awardees and Major L Jotin Singh, Ashok Chakra in particular, who is reserved as the 'Pride of North East', added the statement.
Major General VT Mathew appreciated the locals for participating in the programme whole heartedly and added that such programme will go a long way in strengthening the ever evolving relation between the Indian Army and the locals, added the statement.
