Thoubal, January 17 2014 : Staff of State PWD staged a protest demonstration within their office complex today against the abduction of four workers by some unidentified persons.

Four workers engaged in a road construction work near Singda Dam were abducted by the unidentified persons in the night of January 11 .

The abducted workers are Angom Patel (66) s/o late Ibohal of Uripok, Laishram Bijesh (26) s/o Manglemjao of Wangoo Naodakhong, Sarangthem Anand (26) s/o Hero of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai and Sarangthem Ingo (60) of Malom Tulihal.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest demonstration, the All Manipur PWD Employees and Workers Association president T Tikendrajit appealed to all concerned to release the four workers safe and sound on humanitarian ground at the earliest.

Saying that abduction of innocent workers is a serious deterrent to development works, Tikendrajit appealed to explore other non-violent alternatives.
