State logs 71 new eases, caseload dips

Imphal, November 16 2021:
The state on Tuesday reported zero Covid death, after over a fortnight, and 71 new positive cases out of 2025 samples tested, showing a slight increase in the daily positivity rate, which was 3.51 per cent against Monday's 2.81 per cent.
Meanwhile, the active caseload has slid down to 537 from 800 on Monday as the government authority updated pending discharges made in the past few days.
Out of the 16 districts, only nine reported fresh Covid cases on Monday with Imphal West still reporting highest cases at 30.In terms of positivity rate, Noney district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 7.7 per cent while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.8 per cent.
Chandel, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Senapa-ti, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload came down to 537, out of which 63 (11.73 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability.
So far, the state has recorded 95,188 positive cases and 1579 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 857 new positive cases and 32 death cases out of which 402 new cases and 15 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, 70 people (28 male & 42 female) out of the 71 new positive cases are from among the general population and 1 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (7), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (61).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (24), Imphal West (29), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (4), Churachandpur (3), Kamjong (1), Noney (1) and Ukhrul (5).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 50 patients were discharged from home isolation (9), JNIMS (14) and CCCs (27).However, 284 already discharged patients were reported only on Tuesday and the total number of discharged cases in the last 24 hours is calculated as 334.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,24,588 (general population -1,20,237 and CAPF personnel - 4,351) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,22,098 (general population - 1,17,764 and CAPF personnel - 4,334) and number of active cases is 537 (general population - 525 and CAPF personnel - 12).The recovery rate is 98 per cent.
A total of 349 D-type and 15 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Whereas, 8447 vaccine doses were administered on Monday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,63,238 out of which 8,05,167 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,535), Imphal East (27,624), Thoubal (9462), Churachandpur (10,171), Kangpokpi (2783), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9182), Senapati (2239), Ukhrul (2976), Kakching (6415), Chandel (2345), Noney (1072), Tengnoupal (1071), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (944) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (649), Imphal East (465), Thoubal (176), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (191), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (43), Kakching (112), Chandel (40), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,151 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,636 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,49,351 tests per million population against the national average of 4,47,427 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.57 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2025 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.51 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.94 per cent.
