Imphal, July 16 2019: Angry locals and family members of a minor victim decided to take matter into their own hands and attacked a rape accused while he was produced before the Special Judge POCSO, Senapati, today.

The rape accused, Ashin alias Kashin alias Kasingba (50) s/o Mangainangba alias Adaitba of Nungtek Karvanmuang village, Part II, Noney, was arrested on July 11 after being on the run from the law from past two years.

The accused was produced before Senapati Court complex today under heavy security measures comprising of Senapati district police and Under Trial Prisoners escort, so as to furnish relevant papers of the charge sheet submitted against him by the IO of the case on December 15, 2017 .

However, angry locals and family members of the minor victim, who had gathered at the complex after getting information that he would be produced before the Court today, attacked him while he was being taken inside the Court room from the prisoner van.

Later, after the Court proceeding, relevant papers of the charge sheet was handed over to the accused and two other co-accused, and the Court fixed July 22 for charge hearing in connection with the case.

It may be mentioned that the case began against the accused Ashin after a written complaint was lodged before Women PS Senapati on August 1, 2017, by victim's elder sister claiming that on the same day, at around 5.30 pm, her sister (the minor) was found unconscious at the stream near Viewland Senapati and it was suspected that she was raped and the miscreants had attempted to murder her as well.
