Ukhrul MLA discusses strategy to combat COVID-19 with officials

Ukhrul MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam today held a consultative meeting with CMO, MS, DPM, doctors and staffs to streamline and prepare a policy for combating COVID-19 in the district.
The meeting was held for more than an hour at Old District Hospital Kamphasom, Ukhrul.
In the meeting, the MLA urged the district health workers to continue rendering services selflessly to prevent transmission of COVID-19 in district.
He said two mobile vans would be provided for providing basic health facilities at the interior villages under the jurisdiction of PHC Khangkhui and Ramva village in order to avert rushing for treatment at the PHC.
This dedicated mobile medical team will create awareness and educate the villagers about precautionary measures that one can practise to prevent the spreading of the novel coronavirus.
The health workers and the villagers should work together while fighting against the COVID-19 crisis.
Meanwhile CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring also highlighted the latest guidelines and instruction.
It was informed that nine quarantine centres have been identified for the district, Rapid Response team formed in all seven Primary Health Centres of Ukhrul and 10 surveillance team were also instituted to enhance the COVID-19 case finding in the district and 16 bedded isolation ward was reserved at Ukhrul District Hospital.
According to the reports of District Hospital, Ukhrul, 264 persons who returned from cities were kept in-home quarantine.
Later, the MLA handed over face mask, gloves and PPE kits to the authority of the District Hospital.
