Imphal, February 16 2022: The Khumbongmayum Gourahari Madhumati Mother Language Award for the year 2022 will be awarded to Makhonmani Mongsaba.

The award has been presented annually by the Sahitya Thoupang Lup (Sathoulup) to language activists on the occasion of International Mother Language Day which is observed on February 21, said a press release by Sathoulup.

The award is being presented to Makhonmani Mongsaba acknowledging his relentless efforts for the upliftment of Manipuri language and culture and his significant contributions as an Assistant Professor of Manipur University of Culture.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10, 000 (Rupees ten thousand), citation and a shawl, added the press release.
