Thoubal, March 15 2024: The 'Lamp lighting and Oath taking Ceremony' of third year batch of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students of the GNM Training School, Thoubal was held at the school ground today.

The GNM Training School, Thoubal is under the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur.

The lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony was graced by Additional Director Health Dr N Hemantakumar; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Thoubal Dr Y Nokul; Deputy Director Nursing Th Suneeta Devi; Manipur Nursing Council Registrar A Jamuna Devi and GNM Training School, Thoubal Principal N Memchoubi Devi as the presidium members.

As a part of the programme, the nursing students held a candle lighting ceremony in the honour of Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modem Nursing and took the nursing oath.

Speaking as the chief guest, Additional Director Health Dr N Hemantakumar said that India is striving to be a developed country by 2047 with primary focus on the health sector.

He highlighted the key role of nurses in developing the health sector apart from the contributions of the doctors and availability of advanced equipment and healthcare facilities.

He also appealed to all who are into the nursing profession to dedicate themselves in their service.
