Fuel transporters threaten to cease work

The All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters' Association which is engaged in shipping fuel from outside the State has threatened to launch cease work strike from November 18 if the transportation charge fixed by IOC is not revised by November 17 .
Pointing out that the transportation charge offered by IOC is lower than the rate offered in 2013-14, and demanding appropriate transportation charge, the association has submitted representations to the IOC's North East Integrated Sales Office Executive Director and the CAF&PD Minister.
The association also informed that they would cease transportation of fuel from outside the State and distribution of fuel to oil pumps from Malom depot from November 18 if there is no positive response by November 17 .
Sources informed that the transportation charge fixed by IOC recently is lower than the transportation charge of2013-14by 12percent.Highlighting rise in prices of all goods and the higher maintenance costs of tanker trucks, the association has been demanding appropriate transportation charge.
In case the transporters cease transportation of fuel from November 18, Manipur Sangai Festival which would be held from November 21 to 30 may be seriously affected, the sources added.
