Chandel rise in protest against removal of Naga flags

Protest erupted in Chandel district against the alleged removal of Naga National flags by State police on the occasion of Naga Independence Day on Saturday.
In the protest, one police booth was torched while two police personnel sustained injuries.
According to a reliable source, Chandel police pulled down the Naga National flags posted last night in and around Japhou Bazar of the district this morning.
Saying that several Naga CSO leaders rushed to Chandel police station at around 10.30 am to take back the flags, the source continued that the police instead of releasing the flags detained the CSOs leaders in rain.
Denouncing the response of the police, denizens of Chandel blocked roads and torched one police booth, the source continued.
Continuing that the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the agitators whrle the protesters pelted stones in response, the source maintained that two police personnel namely RT Choice (27) and Aneikham (31) were injured.
The source continued that flags have been released.
It was also agreed that the detained CSO leaders will not take part in the India Independence Day tomorrow.
