World Blood Donor Day observed

Imphal, June 14 2011:
Department of Immunohematology and blood transfusion, RIMS, Imphal today celebrated the World Blood Donor Day, 2011 like in other parts of the globe.
Director Dr Sekharjit Singh of the institute graced as chief guest of the function which was presided by Medical Superintendent prof H Shanti Singh.
Prof M Lala, secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur attended the function as guest of honour.
The chief guest released a booklet entitled "Blood Transfusion Guidelines in RIMS Hospital" as part of the celebration of the day.
Mementos and certificates were also distributed to the NGOs who involved in the campaign for encouraging voluntary blood donors.
Speaking on the occasion as president, H Shanti said that blood is the most precious gift that a man can give to others.
There is no substitute of blood.
Some people have to give blood and some have to receive it.
So, it is very important to donate blood to save lives of others.
