Imphal, December 13 2019: Lauding the extension of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur, the People's Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has urged the State Government to do the needful to ensure that the system is effectively implemented at the earliest in the interest of the people.

A statement issued by the convenor of PANDM today conveyed that the coming of ILPS in Manipur is indeed a big win for the people, CSOs and all the stakeholders concerned who have been fighting for the system since a long time.

However, it is not right to keep dragging on the festivities/rejoicing further and instead, the authorities concerned should start processing the necessary formalities to ensure ILPS is effectively enforced in Manipur.

The State Government must make preparations to come up with guidelines for the enforcement of ILPS regulation in the State, it explained, appealing to the Government to call a Cabinet meeting to do the needful.

Stressing on the urgent need to identify the indigenous and non-indigenous people in the State, PANDM said that the process of NRC updating will take a long time.

The organisation also assured to offer every possible support in ensuring effective enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.
