Senapati, May 13 2016 :
Various Gorkha civil bodies of Sadar Hills have castigated the JAC Shantipur for claiming the Inspection Bungalow at Gamgiphai as part of Imphal West.
The body has also condemned the deployment of commandos at Sadar Hills, our correspondent reports.
Motbung-Charhajare Gorkha Youth Union in its joint meeting at Motbung today censured the ignorance of JAC Shantipur accusing them of 'misleading' the public.
The union maintained that the Inspection Bungalow at Gamgiphai where a commando outpost was installed without the consent of the Sadar Hills' people is rightfully under the administrative jurisdiction of Sadar Hills and not Imphal West.
The JAC's statement on the matter has seriously disturbed the peaceful coexistence of various communities in Sadar Hills.
The union also said that it is strongly opposed to the deployment of commandos at Gamgiphai and urged the State Government to remove the personnel from the area in the interest of all communities in Sadar Hills.
The Sadar Hills Gorkha Union also registered strong opposition over the stationing and deployment of commandos at Gamgiphai and condemned the statement made by the JAC Shantipur.
Hari Nepal, president, Sadar Hills Gorkha Union said anything that could disturb the peaceful coexistence of the people of Sadar Hills will be opposed and condemned by the Gorkha community living in the area.
He further maintained that the deployment of commandos at Gamgiphai has disturbed the peaceful atmosphere in the area.
It will be wise to withdraw the commando personnel and its outpost from Gamgiphai at the earliest, Hari stated.
The union president also pledged to support the people of Sadar Hills in their demand for withdrawal of the commandos from the area.
In the meantime, Kuki Women Union, Sadar Hills, today warned to take up extreme form of agitation if the State Government does not withdraw its commando forces from Gamgiphai within two days.
The State Government had stationed commando personnel in an outpost created overnight on April 29 evening at Gamgiphai, Sadar Hills for security reasons.
Various civil bodies in Sadar Hills have strongly opposed the installation and deployment of the forces in the hill districts.
Kuki Women Union, Sadar Hills general secretary Hahat Touthang said the people will no more tolerate the presence of the forces in the area.
She has asked the State Government to withdraw the personnel from Gamgiphai within two days.
Hahat Touthang alleged that the commando personnel at Gamgiphai forcefully took money from some businesswomen in Sadar Hills.
"Where there are commandos, there is no security", Hahat Touthang stated adding that the women of Sadar Hills are well prepared and ready to react if the State Government fails to act practically.
