A five-day special training programme for NGO functionaries of North Eastern region started today at the conference hall of Brothers' Union, Kalinagar, Jiribam under the aegis of the Central Board for Workers' Education, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, Regional Directorate, Imphal and Child Welfare Ashram (CWA), Jiribam, reports JNN.
The opening ceremony was graced by Dr N Bijoya Devi, Principal Jiri College, Jiribam, Kh Kunjarani Devi, ex-councillor, Jiribam Municipal Council, Jiribam and Th Ibomcha Singh, Principal RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Jiribam as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
President of the function Kh Kunjarani, during her speech, said NGOs play an important role in the society aiding both the Government as well as the public.
She added that the educated persons can avail help from NGOs.
During the evening session of the ceremony, resource person Sangkhu Hongsha, programme co-ordinator, CWA, Jiribam spoke on the topic "Life skills for enhancing performance & stress management" while H Rajen Singh, Lecturer Department of Zoology, Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School, Jiribam elaborated on "Major socio-economic issues in the NER and role of NGOs" .
The training programme is being attended by 30 trainees from various States of North East.
The valedictory function of the training programme will be held on January 17 .
