Imphal, December 12 2024:
Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) observed its 15th Foundation Day at the multipurpose community hall near Thangmeiband Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba today.
The ceremony was graced by Kh Joykisan, MLA Thangmeiband AC; Kh Nobokumar, TAKDO president; M Rajendro, advisor, TAKDO; Rengkhokhel Koireng, president, TAKDO Tribal Forum; Th Pumachandra, Caretaker Corporator, Imphal Municipal Corporation Ward No 2; Subhash Jain, representative, TAKDO Bazar Community and TAKDO leaders from different communities.
Addressing the gathering, Kh Joykisan said that the internally displaced people who have been forced to flee their own homes in their own country are Indian citizens.
However, their citizenship seems to be deprived of all meaning as they continue to languish in relief camps and prefabricated houses unable to return home.
Stating that development without peace is impossible, he pointed out that Manipuri society has regressed in all aspects as a result of the protracted conflict.
He urged the public to be aware of individuals who do not want peace or resolution of the crisis but exploit the conflict to earn rewards.
Calling for unity among the State legislators, CSOs and the public to bring peace, the MLA appealed for an end to the back and forth between CSOs and MLAs/Ministers.
Kh Joykisan also appealed for collective effort to return the IDPs living in relief camps under the supervision of TAKDO to return to their original homes by December, 2025 .
