Sangeet Kala Sangam celebrates Diamond Jubilee

The Diamond Jubilee celebration of Sangeet Kala Sangam concluded on Saturday at its auditorium in Khurai Lamlong Bazar, Imphal.
Sangeet Kala Sangam presented its annual folk dance production "Loyalakpa Kumdamlon" to mark the end of the Diamond Jubilee celebration which began on July 16, 2024 .
The closing function was graced by Thangjam Arunkumar, MLA Wangkhei AC; N Babuton Singh, president Sangeet Kala Sangam; G Dharmadas Sharma, Deputy Director (Programme), Art & Culture, Government of Manipur and Budha Chingtha, Member, Board of Governors, EZCC, Kolkata, MOC, Government of India as presidium members.
The function began with lighting of a lamp followed by a welcome address delivered by M Basanta Singh, secretary of Sangeet Kala Sangam.
Addressing the gathering, Thangjam Arunkumar said that the people of Wangkhei AC stressed on the need to promote & preserve the indigenous art forms which hold great significance to the history and culture of the State.
He urged all to avail the benefits of the schemes/ programmes initiated by the Government for the betterment and welfare of artists.
The MLA also reiterated that the State Government has been working earnestly to safeguard & promote the indigenous culture and traditions of the State so that its legacy will be carried forth to coming generations for a strong and developed society.
Releasing a Souvenir, "Pung Cholom" performance and felicitation of writers & artists were the other highlights of the event.
