Bishnupur, February 12 2016 : United Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Ltd mem- bers along with Kwakta locals staged a sit-in at Panghal Lamkhai demanding adequate supply of drinking water today, our correspondent reports.

Kwakta locals and members of the weavers society have been engaged in cleaning/clearing water pipes along the area for about three days which has enabled drinking water to reach few areas of Kwakta, members of the weavers society informed.

PHE Department, Bishnupur, has not taken up any measure to correct the issue, the society members lamented.

Today's sit-in was staged to demand introduction of new water supply scheme and repair of the broken water pipes in the area, they stated.

In the meantime, United Handloom Weavers Society, in association with Kwakta locals today constituted a Water Supply Management Committee and has urged authorities concerned to hand over water supply related works for the area to the committee.
