Literature festival

The two-day Festival of Literature 2012 organised by Manipur State Kala Akademi in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi was inaugurated at the auditorium of JN Dance Academy yesterday.
Festival Committee Chairman N Kunjamohon and former Secretary of MSKA, Dr Kh Sorojini were the functional president and guest of honour of the opening function respectively.
Speaking at the function, the president mentioned about the significance of literature in bringing people of different communities closer among themselves.
Although, the festival is not that grandeur comparing to festivals organised in other States, it has its own significance, he added.
The festival was attended by renown Bengali poet, Kashmiri writer, Kannada writer and Manipuri writers, poets and scholars.
The festival focussed on a few major Indian languages known for its uniqueness and rich literary traditions.
It also featured the literature of few tribes of Manipur.
