Imphal, September 11 2024: The Manipur People's Front (MPF) has strongly condemned the statement made by Assam Rifles' retired Director General Lt Gen PC Nair in a TV channel that there was no incident of aerial bombing from drones nor firing of long range rockets by Kuki militants in Manipur.

In a release, MPF said that IK Muivah, IGP (Operations) of Manipur Police, had already made it clear that the recent aerial bombing using high tech drones and rockets were carried out by Kuki militants.

MPF also pointed out that the aerial bombing using drones in Koutruk killed an innocent women and left many injured including her minor daughter while the rocket attack at the residence of former Manipur's Chief Minister Koireng in Moirang killed an elderly man.

It is a matter of grave concern that the former DG of Assam Rifles deliberately overlooked all the facts and made fabricated statements ignoring the deaths of innocent civilians, it added.

MPF further asserted that the former DG of Assam Rifles should give a convincing clarification and apologise to the people of Manipur at the earliest.
