SFs strike it rich with arrest of 9 UGs, one arms smuggler

Imphal, March 11 2015:
A combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and 12 Bihar Regiment arrested one active member of RPF/PLA namely, Nongmaithem Nanao Singh alias Raju (27) S/o N Kunjababu Singh of Kakching Nature Cure Hospital Manak, at present staying at Leimapokpam Khunpham on March 5 while conducting a search operation at Leimapokpam Khunpham area.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, investigation revealed that he was involved in collection of information about the movement of security personnel operating in Bishnupur district to plan ambushes on them.
A case has been registered at Nambol PS and investigation is going on.
The same day, based on a reliable intelligence input about the presence of some armed smugglers in Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai area, Imphal West district police commandos conducted frisking and checking at Yaingam Leirak crossing and arrested two persons namely, Lourembam Rabiraj alias Boinao alias Naoba (20) S/o L Rajen Singh of Haobam Marak Lourembam Leikai and Kongjengbam Premjit (38) S/o (L) K Manihar Singh of Phumlou Mayai Leikai.
Investigation revealed that they buy and sell arms and ammunition to outlawed gangs in Imphal area, the PRO release said while adding that one 9 mm pistol along with one magazine loaded with two live rounds and one missed round of 9 mm ammunition and some incriminating articles were seized from the possession of L Rabiraj.
A case has been registered at Singjamei PS and investigation is going on.
On March 7, acting on information about the presence of KYKL cadres in the general area of Kakching Khunou Thongam Kalika Lai Leirak, a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 22 AR conducted search operation and arrested one active cadre of KYKL, namely, Salam Shyam alias Ajit (32) S/o (L) S Bira of Kakching Khunou Thongam Kalika Lai Leikai.
A case has been registered at Waikhong PS and investigation is going on, it said.
The same day, based on a reliable intelligence input about the presence of some armed smugglers in New Checkon area, a team of Imphal West district police commandos conducted frisking and checking at New Checkon near Tribal Market and arrested one Paominlun Haokip (27) S/o Jamthang Haokip of Churachandpur Taising Bollen.
Investigation revealed that he is involved in buying and selling of arms and has close links with KNA, KYKL and other outlawed gangs.
Some incriminating articles were seized from his possession, it said.
A case has been registered at Porompat PS and investigation is going on.
In an unrelated incident the same day based on a reliable information, a combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and 12 Bihar Regiment conducted search operation at Nambol Bazar area and arrested one active cadre of PREPAK namely, Hijam Priyokumar Singh (44) S/o H Itoyaima Singh of Naoremthong Shamusang Lairembi Leirak.
Some incriminating articles were seized from his possession.
On a follow up action, Bishnupur district police commandos arrested another active member of PREPAK namely, Potshangbam Dhaneshwor Singh (41) S/o P Gopimohon Singh of Wangoo Sabal Mayai Leikai presently staying at Changangei Ucheckon.
Some incriminating articles were seized from his possession.
A case has been registered at Nambol PS and investigation is going on, it added.
Meanwhile, troops of 16 AR of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in the general area of Dolaithabi village of Imphal East district and apprehended one KLA cadre on Mar 8, 2015 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the apprehendee was identified as Helun Lhangal (48), Tpt Officer (Batch 2013), KLA, S/o (L) Lethang Lhangal of Patlen, Senapati district.
One extortion chit and a motorcycle bearing No MN-06-3078 were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee has been handed over to Sagolmang PS.
In another operation, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended an over ground worker from the general area Khudengthabi of Chandel district on March 5 .
While checking a passenger vehicle, a suspicious looking individual dismounted from the vehicle.
On questioning him, it was revealed that he has been working as recruitment agent since 2011 who has been misleading youth and arranging their recruitment in various under ground outfits.
One mobile phone, one voter identity card and cash Rs 910 was recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee was identified as Sena alias James (32) S/o (L) Thangthuama of Moreh Ward No 3.The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Singjamei PS, it said.
In another operation, based on intelligence of Assam Rifles Field Intelligence Unit regarding presence of UG cadre in general area Pallel, troops of the 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Pallel TCP of Chandel district and apprehended one UNLF (MPA) cadre on Mar 3.One mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee was identified as SS No � 261, Batch No � 26, Cpl Elangbam Penna alias Sanayaima alias Pangthokpa (33) S/o E Einaocha Singh of Hiyanglam, Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district.
The apprehendee has been handed over to Kakching PS, the statement added.
