A one-day district level workshop on Safer Internet Day was held across the State to raise awareness and promote safer and more responsible use of internet.
BISHNUPUR
A one-day district-level workshop on Safer Internet Day under the theme "Together for a Better Internet" was held today at the Conference Hall of DC, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The event was organized by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Bishnupur in coordination with the District Administration of Bishnupur.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness and promote the safe and responsible use of the internet, particularly among children, women, and young people.
Speaking at the event, S Gunamani Singh, AC to DC Bishnupur, emphasized that Safer Internet Day is observed globally on the second Tuesday of February to sensitize and promote safe and responsible use of the internet.
He further added that the primary goal of the workshop is also to shed light on emerging online issues and concerns.
Rajkumari Romita, DIO NIC stated that the use of digital devices has become deeply intertwined with societal functions, serving as a fundamental tool for communication, transactions, and various services.
She added that the workshop will be held in different schools and colleges of the district creating mass awareness on cyber hygiene and cyber security.
It targets to sensitize diverse internet users about safe use.

The event was also attended by District-Level Officers and concerned officials.
In addition to the workshop, an awareness camp was conducted at the Bishnupur Higher Secondary School.
The camp featured a PowerPoint presentation on Safer Internet practices, followed by an engaging quiz for the students to test their knowledge on the subject.
KAKCHING
The District Administration, Kakching in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Kakching organised a one day District Level Workshop on Safer Internet Day at the DC Office Complex, Kakching.
The theme of this year's Safer Internet Day is "Together, for a Better Internet".
The workshop aims to promote a safer and more responsible use of digital technology and raise awareness about online safety, cyberbullying, digital privacy and responsible internet use.
Langpokplakpam David, Network Engineer, NIC Kakching and Thokchom Mangichand, District Rollout Manager, NIC Kakching attended the programme as resource persons and delivered lectures on the emerging Cyber threats in today's digital landscape.
At the event, lectures on following Cyber Hygiene practices and ways to mitigate threats like Phishing, Vishing, Smishing, financial frauds, identity theft, cyber arrest, etc were presented in detail by the Resource persons.
Thokchom Mangichand provided guidance on reporting cybercrimes, directing participants to visit Sancharsaathi.gov.in, the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), Helpline number 1930 and local police stations for assistance.
Meanwhile, an awareness programme as a part of the District Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Action Plan was held today at Sora High School and Kakching Makha High School, Kakching district organised by the District Administration Kakching and District Social Welfare Office, Kakching.
The awareness programme was attended by Nikita Thangjam, Kakching District Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Committee Member Secretary and District Social Welfare Officer Kakching, along with Nutan Nongthombam, Asian Youth Leader Colombo Plan as resource persons.
Md Azad Khan, Head Master, Sora High School and Robi Naorem, Headmaster, Kakching Makha High School, led the pledge at their respective schools to make Kakching District drug-free.
CHANDEL
District Administration, Chandel in collaboration with the NIC, Chandel district today organised a District Level Awareness Workshop on "Safer Internet Day", under the theme "Together for a Better Internet" at the Conference Hall, District headquarters, Chandel.
The objective of the workshop was to educate local citizens and officials on internet safety practices.
At the event, DIO Chandel, Ngamba Thokchom deliberates on the safe uses of the internet and its application.
The workshop was attended by Deputy Commissioner Chandel, L Nandakumar Singh, ADC, Chandel Firoj Khan, personnel from the Police department, DLOs and other officials of the district.
THOUBAL
Workshop on Safer Internet Day was also held at the Election Counting Hall of DC Office complex, Thoubal organised by the District Administration, Thoubal.
The workshop was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt of India.
At the event, DC Thoubal, Ahanthem Subhash urges the public to raise awareness and promote safe and responsible use of the internet, particularly among children, women, and young people.
The workshop was also attended by the DLOs, HoOs, ULB, Blocks and Staff of District Administration Thoubal.
TENGNOUPAL
District Administration, Tengnoupal in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Tengnoupal District Unit today organized a District Level Awareness Workshop on "Safer Internet Day" at Khangshim Community Hall, Machi Sub-Division, Tengnoupal district.
The theme of the workshop was "Together for a Better Internet" with an objective to educate local citizens and officials on internet safety practices.
Speaking to the gathering, the SP informed that when we have received messages through whatsapp we just share or forwarded without checking and verifying properly.
Sometimes it may be fake news and sometimes that news might be instigating the population.
He urges the citizens to check its veracity whether it is true or not whenever received any messages.
As a responsible citizen, we should not forward any messages or video without checking whether it is true or false.
An interaction with citizens regarding "Safer Internet Day' was also conducted as part of the workshop.
The function was graced by Rahul Gupta, IPS SP Tengnoupal as chief guest, Nazmul Huda Khan, MCS SDO Machi as president of the function and Mahamuda Begum, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Tengnoupal and CMO Tengnoupal as guest of honour respectively.
