DBS alumni gifts laptop to robot maker Nandalal

Imphal, February 11 2018:
In a goodwill gesture, a student group (1993 batch) of Don Bosco School (DBS), Chingmeirong today donated a laptop to robot maker Thiyam Nandalal to help in future projects Thiyam Nandalal (17) s/o Ishorachand Singh of Nambol Balaram Khul, a Class 11 student of Johstone Higher Secondary School created a robot named 'Jon 17' without much electronic background.
For his project Nandalal was conferred with the State and Regional 'Best Exhibit' Award recently.
The donation was made by the student group at Nandalal's residence in the presence of his mentor Jaichand Oinam, a Chemistry lecturer of Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Jaichand guided Nandalal in the project with all his level best.
Speaking to media, Nandalal expressed that he faced some challenges in making the 'JON 17' robot and procurement of its parts with a meagre amount of money was a hard thing to do but his enthusiasm encouraged him to complete his project.
The road condition of Nambol Balaram Khul is deplorable, he said, regretting that his robot once broke down while taking it from his house.
Nandalal said that he had to reassemble the broken parts of the robot with much difficulty.
He said that for his creative work of making a robot, he was honoured by ICHAM president N Ranjendro Singh (Boi) by presenting a cash reward of Rs 50,000.He informed that NIELIT has offered him with free technical studies in the centre.
Nandalal appreciated the donations and offer provided to him, saying the donations and offer will be utilised in his future ventures.
The group of student also extended a monetary help of Rs 30,000 to an ailing female teacher of Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong, who is undergoing treatment in ICU of RIMS.
The teacher namely Shanta Sekaran suffered BP stroke twice.
Her husband Gnana Sekaran who is also a teacher at the same school lauded his students for providing the help.
He said that his wife is recovering from her sickness.
