Imphal, December 10 2012:
Alleging that Thounaojam (O) Thoithoi was hanged after she was killed intentionally Yumnam (O) Ganga, mother of Thoithoi has demanded fitting punishment against the culprit(s) involved in the alleged murder case.
Talking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Yumnam (O) Ganga alleged that her daughter was 'murdered' and 'hanged,' while rejecting outright the claim that 'she committed suicide' .
Thoithoi (18), mother of a 6-month old child, from Haoreibi Awang Leikai was found hung at her marital home at Kakyai Mayai Leikai on December 8 .
She was married to Thounaojam Ojit (20).There are no other member of the family other than the couple and their infant.
The manner in which Thoithoi's husband Ojit surrendered to the Police on the death of Thoithoi and his avoidance to tell the news to her parental home about the death have provided enough room of suspicion, Ganga said.
She further said that unnatural marks on the body of Thoithoi were detected when family members inspect the corpse before conducting the post mortem examination today.
Dismissing the reported confession of Ojit to the police that he found his wife hanging in their room, Ganga said material evidences available at the residence of Thoithoi were enough proof that Thoithoi did not commit suicide.
As such, Ganga urged the authority concerned to probe into the case and booked the culprit(s) involved in it.
