UG cadres arrested, arms recovered

Imphal, November 10 2014:
A combined team of district police commandos, Imphal East, Thoubal and 30 Assam Rifles arrested an active member of KNF (N) from Yairipok Santa Bazar on November 7, according to a statement issued by the PRO, Police Dept, Imphal.
The apprehendee has been identified as Md Aktar alias Nageshwar (24) s/o (L) Banarashid of Yairipok Singa Mathak Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol loaded with six live rounds were seized from his possession.
Investigation revealed that Md Aktar was involved in recent kidnapping of labourers from Yairipok Malom for ransom.
A case has been registered at Yairipok police station for further investigation.
On the same day, a combined team of district police commandos, Thoubal and 22 Assam Rifles conducted an operation in which arms and ammunition wrapped in polythene bags were recovered from the North East side of Kakching Lamkhai and Laiching Minou village in the early hours of November 8.One revolver, three 9 mm pistols, two Chinese hand grenades, one American type hand grenade, nine AK-47 ammunition, four 9 mm ammunition and one lethod shell were recovered.
A case has been registered at Kakching police station for further investigation, the police PRO statement said.
Meantime, a team of district police commandos, Imphal East apprehended a KCP (NRFM) member from North AOC on November 8.The arrested individual has been identified as Ngairangbam Apollo Meitei alias Ibungo (24) s/o (L) N Joy Singh of Napet Palli Mamang Leikai.
A booklet containing 101 numbers of demand letters of KCP (NRFM) signed by Nongpaknganba, s/s finance secretary of KCP(NRFM) and other incriminating articles were seized from his possession.
Upon further investigation, two active members of KCP(NRFM) namely Laishram Rozy Singh (31) s/o (L) L Tharangou Singh of Khurai Lamlong Bazar was arrested from his residence while Likmabam Sandeep Singh s/o L Ghanashyam Singh of Khurai Chingabam Leikai was arrested from Paite Veng crossing on the same day.
A case has been registered at Imphal police station for further investigation, the PRO statement added.
