Honey processing factory comming up at Toupokpi

Foundation stone for the construction of a Common infrastructure Facility of Honey Processing has been laid today at Toupokpi, Bishnupur in the presence of Commerce and Industry Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Commerce and Industries Principal Secretary L Lakher, Director B John Tlangtinkhuma and Bishnupur DC M Harekrishna.
The processing facility is being constructed under the funding of the Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur.
An estimate of Rs 6.94 crore will be utilised in the construction, our correspondent reports.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Govindas Konthoujam said the Department targets to complete construction of the facility by February next year.
Once the facility is completed, it would be possible to preserve honey as well as provide work to some of the unemployed youths.
The procession unit targets to produce at least 500 kg of honey in a day, the Minister said.
Government projects and schemes without public co-operation will be meaningless, Govindas stated while urging the people to support and co-operate with the Government for the success of the above mentioned project.
