Bishnupur, September 10 2024:
After arriving at an understanding with the State Government, the JAC against the brutal killing of RK Rabei by Kuki narco-terrorist has claimed the dead body of the senior citizen which had been lying at RIMS morgue till date.
Addressing the media at a press conference today, Sanjoy Moirangthem, JAC convenor, shared that the JAC agreed to claim the dead body of the senior citizen and perform the funeral rites after the Chief Minister assured to fulfill the JAC's six point demand during a meeting which was also attended by Moirang AC MLA.
However, he cautioned that if the Government fails to deliver the demands of the JAC then the Committee will launch intense agitations with the support of the public.
The six demands put forth by the JAC are: strict action against Kuki perpetrators responsible for the recent attacks and payment of ex-gratia to the victim's family; construction of a shed/cabin for "Arangphams" in Moirang; handing over of funds to the JAC within one week to repair the sculpture of former Chief Minister Mairembam Koireng which was damaged in the attack; removal of 9th Assam Rifles and replacing them with a different security force; ensure that adequate State forces are deployed at Moirang Thangjing to conduct domination exercise before Sajibu Nongma Panba and declare the group involved in targeting the INA Memorial Martyr's Complex, which is a national property, as well killing and injuring civilians as a "terrorist organisation" and payment of proper compensation for the destruction wreaked at the home and property of Keisham Lokendro.
It is worth noting that RK Rabei was killed by a blast resulting from a rocket/missile attack launched by suspected Kuki militants at Moirang Mairembam Leikai on September 5 afternoon.
The rocket exploded at the residence of the former Chief Minister where Arangpham RK Rabei from Moirang Phiwangbam Leikai and others were congretated and making preparations for the Mangani Leihul ceremony of the deceased Chief Minister's fourth daughter-in-law Ibeyaima.
