Imphal, September 10 2021:
The Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has directed all the illegal stone crushing plants opened in the vicinity of National Highway in Awang Sekmai to shift their plants.
MPCB chairman L Radhakishore said this while inaugurating an ambient air quality monitoring station at CHC Sekmai Complex and added that the station was installed in Sekmai after receiving complaints from the public about the existence of a number of stone crushing plants, hot mix plant and brick farms.

He added that if the plants or farms want to run their operation, they should strictly follow the guidelines as mandated by relevant Government authorities in this regard.
The chairman added that some people were engaged in opening such plants amid heavily populated areas or in the vicinity of National Highways which is illegal and also increases air and noise pollution.
