Farmer field school held

Imphal, February 10 2016:
A farmer field school on watermelon was held at Monglenphai
village, Churachandpur under the aegis of Krishi Vigyan Kendra
(KVK) Churachandpur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH
Region today.
The function was attended by Dr Niranjan Lal, Programme
Coordinator, KVK, Churachandpur, L Somendro Singh,
ACTO (Soil Science) KVK, Churachandpur and Dr RK
Roshan, SMS (Horticulture) KVK, Churachandpur as the
presidium members.
The function was attended by 40 farmers
of Churachandpur district, according to a statement.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Niranjan Lal, stressed the
need for expanding area under watermelon cultivation in
Churachandpur district.
L Somendro Singh highlighted the growing demand of the
watermelon in manipur.
Dr RK Roshan highlighted economic
importance of watermelon and the need for crop diversification
to cope with the changing climate of the region.
The programme was followed by technical session wherein
lectures were delivered by Dr RK Roshan, L Somendro Singh,
M Bimola Devi, SMS- Plant Protection on IPM in water-
melon and Manngaikim, Programme Assistant.
