The Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, reviewed the preparations which are underway in the State for the coming Lok Sabha election, apart from instructing all the DCs to prepare necessary district election management plans.
According to a source, the preparations were reviewed by CEO PK Singh, during a meeting held at the CEO conference hall at Lamphelpat which was also attended by DCs.
The source explained that the CEO instructed the DCs to prepare necessary district election management plan which contains all necessary details like polling party database, number of vehicles, security arrangements etc and submit it before February 5.The CEO also instructed the DCs to assess the condition of the polling stations and submit the details of the polling stations which often face disturbances.
The source explained that the meeting also deliberated on steps to be taken up in case of any inconveniences arising out of the increase in the number of polling personnel for the coming Lok Sabha election (6 personnel this time compared to 5 in the past) as well as sending employees who are utilised in Imphal even though they are posted in the hill areas to polling duties.
The source then informed that the final electoral roll of the 60 ACs will be published tomorrow, adding that the Election Commission of India has also called for a meeting of all the CEOs on January 11 and 12 .
On the other hand, the CEO had called a meeting of all the political parties of the State on January 16 .
It may be mentioned that cVIGIL, a mobile app, will be used for the first time in the coming Lok Sabha election to lodge complaints regarding violation of election model code of conduct, the source added.
