16th Finance Commission team visits INA HQ, War Museum and Loktak Lake

On the last day of their three-day visit to the State, the 12-member official team of the 16th Finance Commission led by Chairman Dr Arvind Panagariya visited the INA Headquarter, INA War Museum and Loktak Lake today.
Upon arriving at Moirang, the team first visited the former headquarter of the INA at Moirang Konjengbam Leikai where they were accorded a warm welcome by Thongam Shanti, MLA Moirang Assembly Constituency.
Following this, the team took a tour of the INA War Museum located at Moirang Kumam Leikai.
Here, the team paid their respects before the memorial statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
On the occasion, the 16th Finance Commission team was introduced to traditional garment representing Moirang culture with the presentation of mythological hero Khamba's headgear (Kokset) for the men and heroine Thoibi's headgear (Kajenglei) for the women in the team.
Figurines of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were also handed over as gifts.
The traditional items were presented on behalf of MLA Thongam Shanti, INA Local Advisory Committee, members of INA War Museum and Manipur Art & Culture Department with the participation of Dr L Sadhana Devi, Curator, INA.
On another note, MLA Thongam Shanti submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission.
Speaking to media persons in this connection, Y Modhu, convenor, INA Local Advisory Committee expressed hope that the team will fulfill the points listed in the memorandum for the welfare of Manipur as a whole.
Later, the 16th Finance Commission team reached Sendra to visit the Loktak Lake.
At this site, they were welcomed by Loktak Development Authority Chairman M Ashnikumar, LDA Project Director L Bhagaton, LDA officials and staff.
Simple gifts were also presented to the team to mark the occasion.
After exploring the Sendra hill, the team boarded a boat and had brunch at one of the floating hotels in the Loktak Lake and took in the scenic beauty of the lake during a boat tour.
They left for Imphal after concluding the visit.
