35th Raising Day of PNNM observed

Senapati, August 09 2022: J Kumo Sha, MLA, 47-Karong AC and V Martha, first president of Poumai Naga Women's Union (PNNM) inaugurated the 35th Raising Day of PNNM today.

The program began by honouring the former presidents of the Union.

Speaking on the occasion, P Delilah, president PNNM, said that the event was organised on the theme "Striving for Justice", adding that women from the Poumai community suffered the most during Operation Bluebird post the Oinam Hill incident that occurred on July 9, 1987 .

It may be noted that the womens' organization was formed on this day in the same year to seek justice for women.

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Kumo Sha decried the injustices suffered by women of the region.

He added that the necessity to form the womens' union was felt in order to redress their grievances and harassment they faced.
