Senapati CSOs condemn irresponsible act of 34th AR

Senapati, August 09 2019:
The Civil Society Organizations of Senapati District under Naga People Organisation condemned the arrest and detention of Peter Kezevitou s/o (L) Ashe of Tungam village, presently residing at Kathikho Karong village, said a press release issued by NPO.
He was reportedly picked up from Karong Bazaar on August 7, 2019 at around 3 pm by 34th Assam Rifles and took him to his residence, said the statement and maintained that after further interrogation, they detained him at Maram.
In the statement, the NPO maintain that "It is very unfortunate that the Assam Rifles continue to harass and torment innocent people without any reason even when there is ceasefire and peace process at the Prime Minister Level to restore dignity and justice in our land".
The apex body expressed concerned at the irresponsible act of the 34th Assam Rifles which belie the essence of their profess "friends of the Hills people" slogan as it is an attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
The NPO also questioned the despicable act of the concern army officer and asserted that they will not tolerate such action in the future while urging the concern authority to immediately reprimand the high-handed officer in the spirit of democracy and rule of law.
