Many condemn the assault on Dr N Haraba

Strongly condemning the alleged physical assault of Dr N Haraba by some personnel of Manipur police personnel on the night of June 7 while the doctor was returning home from duty, All Manipur AYUSH Doctors' Association (AMADA) has threatened that AYUSH doctors will refrain from duty if the Government fails to award befitting punishment to the security personnel involved in assaulting the doctor at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet held today at IMA Conference Hall, Lamphelpat, AMADA member and AYUSH SNO Dr Benedick Maring termed the act of assaulting and manhandling a doctor who has been working as frontline warrior in the ongoing pandemic as the most barbaric.
Further stating that the AYUSH doctors in the State have been silently bearing many service related inconveniences, such as deprivation of deserving increment in their salaries, the SNO went on to claim that they can no longer tolerate when one of the AYUSH doctors has been assaulted and manhandled by security forces.
While demanding the State Government to arrest and award befitting punishment to the security personnel who allegedly assaulted Dr Haraba, the SNO warned that AYUSH doctors will refrain from performing their duties if the State Government fails to respect their demand.
He added that AMADA will stand for rights of AYUSH doctors.
Meanwhile, Royal Riders Manipur (RRM) in a press meet held at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak sought justice in the assault of Dr Haraba.
Decrying the assault of Dr Haraba, RRM president Momo Laishram demanded the State Government to punish the security personnel at the earliest.
He informed that Dr Haraba is a member of RRM who has been involved in many of the social activities conducted by RRM.
The Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch has also condemned the assault on Dr N Haraba.
The Indian Dental Association (IDA) also joined the condemnation chorus.
