Over ' 8 crore collected through pre-paid system

Along with completion of the construction on the Electric Pre-payment Vending Counter at Keishampat near the Electricity office for the purpose of carrying out works related to pre-paid services, the taxes collected through pre-paid systems have crossed Rs 8 crores.
According to report received from Electricity Division number 1 of the State Electricity Department, the Electric Pre-payment Vending Counter where consumers can do all the dealings with regard to recharging of pre-paid metres and other relevant works started functioning since October last.
To provide easy access to recharging pre-paid metres, the consumers will be provided with recharge cards just like those recharge cards used on mobile phones.
With efforts being made to set up more outlets in different parts of the state where pre-paid recharge cards would be on sale, the consumers would be able to get the prepaid re-charge cards from any counter, the report added.
It is said that installation of pre-paid metres in Paona Bazaar has been completed with altogether 1800 pre-paid metres installed so far.
In Thangal Bazaar, around 2800 pre-paid metres have been installed.
The number of pre-paid metres installed in Mejorkhul is 300 and 300 in Dewlaland.
The installation process is still underway in different parts of Imphal at present.
