Media workshop on "HIV and AIDS (P&C) Act, 2017" conducted

Senapati, September 08 2022: The Khelen Thokchom Trust Manipur in collaboration with Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) organised a 1-day media workshop on "HIV & AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017" at Mao-Poumai Catholic Women's Hall, Senapati.

It was attended by Phanjoubam Lanngamba, Assistant Director, IEC & Mainstreaming, MACS; Omajit Leishangthem, IEC & Mainstreaming, MACS; Ksh Deepak, State TI Coordinator, MACS; Peter Adani, president Manipur Hill Journalists Union and Robert Sapam, president Khelen Thokchom Trust Manipur as presidium members.

At the event, Ksh Deepak delivered a lecture on the topic, "Basics of HIV & AIDS" while Omajit Leishangthem spoke on "HIV and AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017" and Phanjoubam Lanngamba on "Media ethics on HIV & AIDS reporting" .

Sobhapati Samom, secretary Khelen Thokchom Trust Manipur stated that the trust was formed in the memory of Khelen Thokchom to support young journalists of the State.

Sobhapati continued that the workshop was conducted to sensitize journalists on how they should report as a new HIV and AIDS ( Prevention & Control) Act was passed in 2017 .

Appreciating the trust for organising the workshop, Peter Adani expressed hope that media persons could profit from such workshops and spread awareness on HIV & AIDS to the public.

A large number of media persons from Senapati District attended the programme.
