Imphal, February 08 2019:
Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd, handed over three pillars adorned with Kanglasha busts for use at the martyrs memorial complex located at Laishramkhul, an area populated with Meiteis in Karimganj district of Assam.
The said pillars were handed over to Laishramkhul yesterday by Salai Holdings Pvt Ltd Chairman Narengbam Samarjit.
Speaking at the event, Samarjit said that it is high time for all the Meiteis to come together and Salai will offer all possible support to bring unity and integrity.
Speaking at the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, Narengbam Samarjit said that if the CAB is passed in the Rajya Sabha, then steps for boycotting the Lok Sabha might be considered.
He then alleged that the Congress party's hue and cries against the CAB is an act and reasoned that if the Congress party was honest, it would have fought tooth and nail when the Bill was produced in the Lok Sabha instead of walking out from the House.
Announcing that a sum of Rs 5000 will be paid to the individual who look after the newly unveiled pillars, Samarjit also handed over a sum of Rs 1 lakh to All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU).
He further informed that Meitei travelling to Dubai need not fear about anything anymore as Salai has a big villa in Dubai which will provide free lodgings for the Meitei people.
On the other hand, AMMSU president Pangambam Nilakanta said that even though there are many historic sites and location of Manipuri culture in Barak, they have not been looked after properly.
He also lamented the lack of any form of initiative from the authority concerned regarding the establishment of a rest house for Manipuris at Silchar despite repeated appeals for the last 10 years.
He also announced that AAMSU will fully support any movement of NESO in connection with the CAB.
