Blue Band to perform in Bangladesh

Famed Manipuri musical group Blue Band will be performing at the Bisgaon Manipuri Festival 2020 in Bangladesh.
A 29 member team including members of the band left Imphal from the Bir Tikendrajit Airport today at around 1.20 pm .
The Bisgaon Manipuri Festival 2020 will begin from January 10 at Chunarughat, Habiganj in Bangladesh.
The team is being led by Patriotic Writers' Forum Manipur secretary Rakesh Naorem.
The Blue band team members include programme manager Arya Sapam, renown singer Mayanglambam Uttamkumar, Chingangbam Pakasana, Raj Elangbam, Maibam Umananda, Chungkham Sangeeta and Heisnam Rosy, Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary Mutum Ramani Devi and translator T Amarjit Singh are also accompanying the band.
The team was flagged off at 10.30 am from the western gate of the Kangla by Apunba Manipuri Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK) president S Tijendra.
AMMIK's general secretary Dhananjoy and social activist Jitendra Ningomba also attended the flagging off event.
During the flagging off ceremony, team leader Rakesh Naorem said that the Bisgaon Manipuri Festival will bridge the gap between the distant blood relatives and enhance cultural exchange programmes between the India and Bangladesh, especially between the Manipuris of the two countries.
Blue Band's participation in the festival will further give a taste of Manipuri music and culture to the Manipuris in Bangladesh, he said.
