Bomb threat: Ukhrul students stage sit-in protest

Ukhrul, November 07 2024: Students of both Government and private schools and colleges of Ukhrul staged a sit in protest condemning the act of placing a hand grenade at the ZEO Office in Phungeitang, Ukhrul on Wednesday.

The students wielded placards inscribed with messages such as "Say no to threats in education", "No place for fear in education", "Choose hope in education" etc among others.

Speaking by the sidelines of the protest, Wungsorin Raleng, president of Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL) expressed solidarity with the ZEO Office staff.

The HKL president further urged the perpetrators behind the act to leave education free from intimidation and demanded not to repeat such inhuman acts in the future.

Meanwhile, Association of Recognised Schools of Ukhrul District (ARSUD) also denounced the bomb threat in very strong terms.

ARSUD said that ZEO Office is the powerhouse of education in the district and the guide and the mentor to all the educational institutions.

Such a threat against education is a threat against the progress of society.

Education is the backbone and the channel to usher growth, prosperity and survival of a Nation, added ARSUD.
