Imphal, October 07 2015:
Irked by the indifferent attitude shown by the State Government regarding the pathetic condition of the road from Leimaram Lamkhai to Leimaram Chingkhong, the Heinoubok Waroiching Development JAC has warned the State Government of intense forms of agitation in case the road remains unrepaired till October end.
Speaking to mediapersons, JAC president Ningthoujam Ibomcha Meitei said the road leading to Leimaram waterfall from Leimaram Lamkhai has been in a pathetic condition for quite sometime.
Numerous accidents have taken place in the said road owing to the condition of the road.
The JAC had submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister, Works Minister, local MLAs and concerned officials on August 4 apprising them of the road condition.
However, no steps have been taken to repair the said road till date.
The road in question, is one of the most important routes taken by residents of over 4 villages and others from Senapati district.
More than 500 two-wheelers, 300 four wheelers and 8 buses ply along the said road everyday.
Added to these statistics are the number of tourists visiting the Leimaram waterfall and other water services.
The road was last repaired in 2007 with a 10 feet black topping.
Ever since Leimaram waterfall began to attract tourists on daily basis and the subsequent increase in the number of vehicles plying along the route everyday, the condition of the road have deteriorated markedly, the JAC president stated.
Adding to the woes of the locals, the road has been dug up for installation of internet lines.
The JAC will launch intense form of protests, the JAC president stated, in case the Govt fails to repair the road by October end.
