Imphal, January 07 2013:
A team of leaders of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) led by its President SC Jamir along with Tokayo Yeftheomi, Opposition leader of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, who came to Imphal for a short visit, left sealing the mouths of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also the President of the Manipur State Congress Committee, to remain mum over the Naga issue till the election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly which is due in March is over.
NPCC had earlier declared that the election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly would be banned if a solution to the protracted peace talks between NSCN-IM and Government India is not brought about before the election to Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The short visit of the leaders of NPCC led by its President SC Jamir along with Tokheho Yefthumi was also accompanied by Congress MLAs KV Pusa, Chuvachand and former MLA K Therie.
Though there has been no official statement from the side of the Government of Manipur on the reason of the unannounced visit by Nagaland team to the State, reliable sources revealed that the reason was certainly not just to seek moral or emotional support from Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Deputy Gaikhangam in the ensuing election to the Nagaland State Legislative Assembly but with a hidden agenda of the Indian National Congress (INC).
INC has been in favour of granting 'something special' to NSCN (IM) to bring an 'honourable' end to the over more than 15 years long peace talks between the Naga rebel group and the Government of India.
It has been reported that a meeting of the various National Political parties in Nagaland was convened on January 5 whereby it was resolved that the issue for an 'honourable' solution to the peace talk should be considered.
