Imphal, November 06 2012: Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur has distributed 75 piglets to 25 beneficiaries of Ukhrul district under the Rastriya Krishi Vikash Yojana for the year 2009-10 .

2-3 months old improved variety of the piglets were distributed free of cost today to the beneficiaries, informed a statement issued by VO, Ukhrul Ngahoshai Luithui.

The simple piglets distribution function at District Vety Office, Ukhrul was graced by Dr Th Debendrakumar Singh, Jt Director, Ukhrul.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Debendrakumar said the piglets were distributed to generate piggery development for improvement of livelihood of livestock farmers of the State.

Urging the beneficiaries to utilise the piglets judiciously, the Jt Dir further appealed the farmers to contact nearest Vety hospitals or dispensaries in case of coming across any disease on the piglets.
