Chandel, September 06 2018:
A Naga public meeting in Chandel has asked the Government of India and the NSCN-IM to hold the ongoing dialogue in a "time bound manner" .
The meeting also re-affirmed their support to the 'collective leadership' of the NSCN-IM and demanded that the Government of India and the NSCN-IM resolve the Naga political issue at the earliest.
Today's meeting was organised by the United Naga Council (UNC) and was held at Japhou Community Hall, Chandel.
According to the UNC leaders, Church leaders, 'tribe hohos', village chairmen, public leaders and others participated in the meeting.
The UNC said that the purpose of today's meeting was also to review the "present" situation in the Naga areas' .
Gaidon Kamei, president of UNC spoke on the Indo-Naga political talks at length.
The UNC president also spoke on the Naga political history and situation in today's meeting and appealed the Nagas to remain united and work for the "Naga cause" .
The UNC organized today's meeting after it had organized a "joint review meeting on the Indo-Naga peace process" in Senapati on August 23 .
That meeting had expressed unhappiness over the delay in "finalizing" the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM.
The August 23 meeting had then urged the negotiating parties to settle the issue in a time bound manner.
Meanwhile, the UNC said today that more 'review meetings' will be organized in 'Naga areas' under its jurisdiction in the days to come.
