Imphal, August 06 2015:
Unlike other localities, people of Brahmapur Aribam Leikai today supported the JCILPS Student Wing sponsored 48-hour bandh with a difference.
During the bandh, the locals requested the passersby with bowed head to return.
However, they allowed free passage to media persons and other essential services personnel.
YC Club, Brahmapur Aribam Leikai president Khwairakpam Bishwamittra said that club members and meira paibee volunteers clamped the bandh at their locality.
All the passersby were queried about their identity and destination, he said and added that even as media and essential services personnel were given free passage, others were requested with bowed head to return.
Bishwamittra further said that instead of blocking the road by placing tree branches and boulders etc and burning tyres, they decided to impose the band in a democratic and polite way.
On the otherhand, one Elangbam Subdutta (31) is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity after he was injured on right leg and left face during an pro-ILPS protest near THAU ground yesterday.
