PHE Minister Dikho inspects water supply schemes, reaffirms 'water for all' promise

Taking a time out of the ongoing Manipur Budget Session, PHE Minister Losii Dikho inspected many water supply schemes in rural areas of Nambol, Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts today.
Accompanied by PHED officials and VWSC members, the Minister personally inspected the ongoing works at Kakyai Lanpao and Sonapat water supply facility in Nambol areas.
Both the functional sites have been included in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) under New Development Bank (NDB) funding for upgradation and retrofitting works.
At Bishnupur, Dikho inspected the Nachou water supply facility which will be upgraded with an overhead tank through NDB funds to provide water to every household in the area.
The officials have sought for more land requisition to build more water reservoirs.
While visiting Kha Potsangbam, the Minister observed that huge water reservoirs were constructed and inaugurated in 2008 but remain unused due to past records of land dispute and non compensation issues to the land owners.
However, the officials pointed out that under the new NDB project, the area will be provided water through a composite scheme.
A similar situation was also observed at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou water supply facility and the Minister instructed the officials to include the area under a composite scheme.
The PHE Minister, who has been inspecting various water supply projects and sites in both the hill and valley areas of Manipur since last year after the launch of "Water for All" initiative by the Prime Minister of India has reached out to many remote and urban areas of the State.
In Kangpokpi, the Minister accompanied by MLA Nemcha Kipgen visited Mission Compound water source and Tori Bari water facilities.
A meeting was also conducted with Kangpokpi Town Committee, KSO-SH, Theological college and Kangpokpi Mission officials.
The KTC members shared their grievances over insufficient water supply facilities to feed the growing population of Kangpokpi town.
The Minister assured to provide sufficient GI pipes for additional and uninterrupted supply of water.
The Minister who is also the in charge of Kangpokpi district inspected the Toribari NLCPR water project and assured to provide GI pipes to fully revive and utilize the mega project to supply water in Toribari areas and Kangpokpi DHQs.
At Kangpokpi town, Minister Losii Dikho also met KSO-SH office bearers, Kuki Women Union, Kangpokpi, Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi and others.
The leaders of the CSOs apprised the Minister over the absence of District Level Officers (DLOs) in some departments and also appealed to appoint a regular Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at the earliest.
KSO Sadar Hills lauds Dikho, Nemcha
The Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills lauded PHE Minister Losii Dikho and MLA Nemcha Kipgen for visiting various places of Kangpokpi district to ensure proper water supply service in the district.
Thangtinlen Haokip, general secretary, KSO Sadar Hills stated that the PHE Minister Losii Dikho, who is also the incharge of Kangpokpi and Senapati along with the local MLA Nemcha Kipgen inspected various water supply schemes in the area to ensure potable drinking water in every households.
The Minister and MLA were accompanied by KSO Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee and representatives of various other CSOs.
KSO expressed their appreciation and gratitude to Dikho and local MLA Nemcha Kipgen for the inspection drive for the welfare of the people.
The inspecting team also visited the Administrative Office building of KSO Sadar Hills at Kangpokpi DHQs and had a constructive deliberation with the student body.
