UPF to observe Reconciliation Month

The death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh will be celebrated as National Reconciliation Month, said United Peoples' Front (UPF) .
Speaking to reporters at the office of the UPF at Keishamthong, its president Nongthombam Rupachandra said January 9 was earlier observed every year as the National Reconciliation Day.
As a part of the National Reconciliation Month observance, a 25-member team will leave Imphal for Cachar on December 21.On December 22 the team will attend a programme at Awapalli and on December 23, statues of Maharaj Gambhir Singh and Nara Singh will be unveiled at Chandrapur, he said.
Four organisations, UPF Manipur, Hingminnasi Eikhoi, Maharaj Gambhir Singh memorial Committee, Chandrapur and Manipuri Youth Front Assam will organise the event for unveiling of the statues, he added.
On December 24, the team will attend a programme on Leng-Ondabi Pat.
The team will return to Imphal on December 25 and afterwards, UPF will hold reconciliation programmes across districts.
The reconciliation month will conclude with Reconciliation Day observance at his memorial site at Canchipur on January 9, 2025 .
This will be the 191st death anniversary of Maharaj Gambhir Singh, said Rupachandra.
