Awareness programme on LPG safety guidelines

An awareness cum training programme on how to safely and properly handle LPG gas cylinder for household purposes, was organised at Lamlai Khunou village, Kamjong district today .
Lamlai Khunou village Headman, P Mahangmi and village secretary S Vareilum attended the training programme as the presidium members .
Speaking at the event as the resource person, All Gas Care (AGC) Manipur State Manager Sh Joyprakash Meitei said that LPG gas cylinders greatly reduces human impacts on the environment but people have to be careful and follow certain safety procedures to present any unwanted accidents .
He said that failure to follow proper safety rules and guidelines have sometimes resulted in fires and loss of property and added that the training programme aim to spread awareness about the necessary rules to the people who regularly use LPG cylinders in their kitchen .
He also urged the people to contact the centre for any queries in the future and also appealed to the State Government and the authority concerned to take up necessary steps to ensure LPG gas connection for every household .
The village headman P Mahangmi also appealed to the State Government to make arrangement to provide LPG connections to the people of the hill areas so as to reduce the impact on nature and the environment .
He said that around 30 hectors of the village’s farmlands have been flooded due to the presence of Maphou dam but the State Government has not taken up any steps to ease the suffering of the affected people beside words of assurance and urged the authority concerned to provide LPG connections for the people at the earliest.
