St Joseph's Cathedral Parish celebrates Silver Jubilee

The St Joseph's Cathedral Parish in Mantripukhri, Imphal, marked its Silver Jubilee on October 5, 2024, with a grand celebration under the theme, "Praise and Glorify God" .
The parish, which was established in 1999, hosted a series of events throughout the day, attended by a large number of parishioners and faithful from the Archdiocese of Imphal.
The day began with a Holy Eucharist at 9:00 am at the Cathedral, said a release.
The Most Reverend John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati and Chairman of the Northeast India Regional Bishops' Conference (NEIRBC), was the chief celebrant, with other dignitaries from the clergy in attendance.
The faithful from St Joseph's Parish, along with various organisations from Lamlongei and surrounding areas, dignitaries of All Manipur Catholic Union, Manipur Catholic Women Organisation, participated in the event to witness the momentous occasion.
The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a felicitation program at 11:30 am.
The program featured cultural performances such as a prayer dance by the catechism children of St Joseph's Parish, a welcome song by the St Thomas Seminarians & Clarist Home, and a Meitei dance by Christ Jyoti School students.
Additionally, the Rongmei Steps performed by the Gaipuinam Dance Troupe further added to the vibrancy of the celebration.
Several key dignitaries were present, including Ukhrul AC MLA Ram Muivah and former Minister Francis Ngajokpa, both of whom offered exhortations.
A jubilee message was delivered by Most Rev Dominic Lumon DD, Archbishop Emeritus.
The highlight of the program was the releasing of a Silver Jubilee souvenir by Most Rev Dr Linus Neli DD, Archbishop of Imphal.
The day concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lydia, secretary of the Jubilee Committee, and the rendition of the Jubilee Theme Song by the cathedral parishioners.
Rev Fr Dr Varghese Velickakam, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Imphal, closed the program with a final prayer and blessing for the jubilee meal.
The Silver Jubilee of St Joseph's Cathedral Parish was a day filled with gratitude, cultural pride, and unity among the faithful.
It stands as a testament to the growth and spiritual journey of the parish community over the past 25 years.
