RIMS Director inaugurates 3D C-ARM Machine

Prof G Sunil Kumar Shanna, Director, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, inaugurated a 3D C-ARM Machine for the Department of Orthopaedics, RIMS, Imphal on Monday.
The inaugural function held at the Operation Theatre complex of RIMS Hospital, Imphal was attended by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, HODs, doctors and staff of RIMS, Imphal, said a release issued by RIMS.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar stated that the 3D machine which cost around Rs 5 crore is the first machine of its kind introduced in the State and the second in the North East.
Highlighting the advantages of the 3D C-ARM Machine, he said that the state of the art machine can generate CT scan imaging like 3D picture while performing operations and reduces the rate of radiation.
He asserted that the machine can also provide significantly improved image to the surgeons helping them in conducting operation successfully without consuming much time.
"The machine can easily handle bullet injury surgery by allowing surgeons to detect the location of the bullets inside our body parts.
The machine will deliver maximum advantages in carrying out Orthopaedics surgery including pelvic surgery and spinal surgery", he added.
Meanwhile, College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal in collaboration with Department of Paediatrics & OBG and Obst & Gynaecology, RIMS, Imphal celebrated the World Breastfeeding Week 2024 by conducting an exhibition cum awareness programme at RIMS, Imphal.
The event held under the theme "Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for all" at RIMS, Imphal witnessed an active participation of students and faculties of College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal.
At the event, Prof Y Yamuna Devi, Principal, College of Nursing, RIMS, highlighted the benefits of breastfeeding for both the babies and mothers.
