Training on Land Use Policy held

Training on New Land Use Policy (NLUP) implementation was held on Friday at District Training Centre, Tuibuong in Churchandpur district, said it in a DIPR press statement.
Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, the Commissioner of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation JC Ramthanga has said that the National Land Use Policy is a new concept in Manipur and this policy will be adapted accordingly in the State.
He also mentioned that this new land use policy has successfully implemented in the State of Mazoram.
The OSD of Planning on NLUP Dr Lokho Puni as guest of honour of the function while presenting a powerpoint stressed the need to preserve watershed area so that more tree plantation could be done there which in turn provided enough water for human consumption and also other agricultural purposes.
He further mentioned that there arises the need for effective implementation of NLUP in Manipur considering the increase of population, land degradation and unscientific land use system in the State and added that the Govt projects line NLUP need to be people oriented so as to get the best result.
